The fabric is ultra soft fleece, the safest fabric for rabbits to chew on. Fleece is made from polyester, which has small fibers, unlike cotton, flannel, and other materials made from long fibers that may get caught in the bunny’s digestive tract, causing serious harm. Also made from polyester is the stuffing that makes the cushions so soft and comfy (not foam, which is unsafe for rabbits). Accidents happen, but don’t worry. The pillow cushion is removable and washable, and fleece will not shrink and fade like other types of materials, so the bunkbed will look cute and new for longer. Construction is sturdy at 8.5 pounds. It won’t tip or wobble when bunnies jump up on top bunk. The vertical hop to the top bunk is about 15.5”.
